Hail Them Now

Hail them now

These good-present days;

Hail the forebearers of our time

Neither before death surges nor disrepute plunges

On salient inroads,

let’s hail to cheer

The few who word our plea

Unlike Oroonoko

the first ever African hero to appear in English Literature

Let alone for them to be mulled

and christened ”Fellahs”

Hail them now

Karamba Diaby,

Calestous Juma,

the unsung heroes of now

Let voices denigrate not

As their testaments are held in upper esteem

For service to humanity

Let’s hail them now

Not until death surges nor disrepute plunges

On salient inroads

We say ”asante”
